Dedicated Leadership, Proven Experience

  • Election Day is Tuesday, November 7th
  • Election Day Polls open 7:00 am - 7:00 pm
  • Vote-by-Mail Ballot Request Deadline is November 1, 2017 at 5:00 pm.

As election day draws near, the citizens of Vero Beach will once again choose fresh leadership.  Voters in coffee shops and at kitchen tables will be discussing the issues of today, and wonder about the vision of tomorrow. Like yourselves, my family and I discuss these same issues and we share the same hopes for our beloved city.

The winding road towards progress is often a bumpy one. Vero Beach is facing formidable changes and our city is at a critical point where only real leadership can see the way through. My vast knowledge of the issues and solid experience representing this great city is paramount and is exactly what's needed at this time.

Vote for me, Jay Kramer, and join me in helping Vero Beach to reach her highest potential... and beyond. I sincerely thank you for your vote!

A PASSION FOR VERO BEACH

As a two term Mayor of Vero Beach and a six-year member of City Council, I know the critical issues confronting our great City. I believe in acting on these issues. There has been little action taken this last year on many issues such as the Lagoon and aeration program, Downtown Vero, the recreational and greenspace projects. Not to mention inactivity in protecting our low-density high standard of living, which has caused us all great concern. It’s time again to elect persons who in short “Get Things Done!” I have been known as the "Go to Guy" and have a proven track record in taking on projects and concerns, to champion the needs of our community. I believe there is much to be done and that is why I'm asking for your Vote for Jay Kramer on Tuesday, November 7th!

EXPERIENCE

DEDICATED TO MAINTAINING OUR HIGH STANDARDS

I believe all citizens have an obligation to serve their community in some capacity. Many elected officials are more interested in the career of politics than a duty to serve. My perspective is that I am in politics, but not a politician. I believe in leadership from the bottom up and not from the top down. I will bring to the City a proven track record of leadership, fresh business perspectives, and common sense to serve the Vero Beach Community. My priority issues are the lagoon, retention and attraction of businesses that will bring jobs, and back to basic principles that include working on our infrastructure and upholding the standard of living that we come to enjoy in Vero Beach. I ask for your vote on Tuesday, November 7th for Vero Beach City Council.

SAFE LOW-DENSITY CITY

Home Rule

Advocating for the preservation and enhancement of our environment city wide. Protecting Home Rule Low-Density high standard of living.

LAGOON - WATERWAYS

Lagoon

I will continue working to bring the best solutions for our waterways. And continue to remove septic tanks off the lagoon. Next step is the aeration project.

Oyster Planting and Baffle Boxes

Aeration is just one method of dealing with one problem within our lagoon. Oyster plantings are another natural and non-evasive method. We have also installed baffle boxes for pollutant removal.

Working for our Waterways

Passed the fertilizer ordinance and voted to continue the study on storm-water utility to stop the pollution.

Remove Toxic Muck From The Lagoon

Move forward on eliminating potential toxic muck and ridding the harmful bacteria that live within the depths of our Lagoon. This will help sea grasses come back and prevention of fish kills.

STEP Program

As Mayor of Vero Beach, I lead us to be the first in Florida to have an organized plan to remove septic run-off from the river.  The STEP system STOPS  septic systems from polluting the lagoon by pumping liquid waste into the sewer system, where it can be properly handled. We must continue and accelerate taking septic tanks off the lagoon using the STEP program.

PROTECT OUR GREENSPACE

Supported Royal Palm Fountains

Actively supported saving the fountains at Royal Palm Point, as a member of the board on the committee.

Recreational and Green Spaces

I served for the betterment of our recreational and green spaces. Projects like the dog park, new baseball fields for our kids, support for the skate park and so much more.

THE SALE TO FPL

The Truth About My Point of View

There has been a lot of presumptuous and false information about my position on the utility sale. My answer is this: I have always been for competitive bidding and getting the best deal for the city. As a past Mayor, I worked to ensure that Vero Beach was not put at financial risk by selling for too low of a price. We entertained and reviewed all other offers and considerations for the sale of our electric company. During my time on the city council, we reduced the rates several times and in my second term we renegotiated the contract with Orlando Utilities Commission. This renegotiation reduced the expiration date and started to lower rates again! In total, during my terms, WE LOWERED RATES EIGHT TIMES and were preparing to lower them again just before my term ended. We can still try to lower rates, and give residents some relief while negotiating the FPL sale. Now that the sale is going through, either a full or partial sale, I have some great ideas for the proceeds to make up for the millions of lost revenues the city will have from the sale.
